Evening Entertainment
Three-time Grammy® Award–winning American mezzo-soprano J’Nai Bridges is celebrated for her “plush-voiced mezzo-soprano” (The New York Times) and “calmly commanding stage presence” (The New Yorker). Hailed by the Financial Times as “a singer headed for topflight,” she appears regularly on the world’s leading opera and concert stages.
Beyond her artistic achievements, Bridges has emerged as a prominent voice in classical music’s ongoing conversations around inclusion and racial justice. In 2022, she was named one of the Kennedy Center’s NEXT50 cultural leaders and appeared with The National Philharmonic in the world premiere of Adolphus Hailstork’s A Knee on the Neck. That same year, she led an internationally acclaimed Los Angeles Opera panel on race and inequality in opera, praised by The New York Times as a “conversation of striking scope and candor.” Her advocacy and visibility extend beyond the concert hall through collaborations with the Los Angeles Philharmonic under Gustavo Dudamel, participation in Global Citizen’s Global Goal campaign, and features in Converse’s All Stars “Breaking Down Barriers” campaign.
Bridges is the recipient of numerous prestigious honors, including the Sphinx Medal of Excellence, a Richard Tucker Career Grant, top prizes at the Francisco Viñas, Gerda Lissner, and Leontyne Price competitions, and awards from the Marian Anderson and Sullivan Foundations.
In the 2025–26 season, Bridges makes her house debut in the title role of Carmen at Teatro Real in Madrid, reprising the role with Seattle Opera and Cincinnati Opera.
