Why Education Matters
Veterans often face unique health challenges connected to their military service, including environmental exposures, service-related injuries, and complex transitions into civilian healthcare systems. Unfortunately, many healthcare professionals and community members have limited training in military culture and Veteran-specific health concerns.
The Veterans Health and Wellness Foundation addresses this gap by developing educational programs that increase awareness, improve medical understanding, and strengthen community support for Veterans and their families.
By educating healthcare providers, empowering communities, and sharing the lived experiences of Veterans, VHWF helps create systems of care that are informed, compassionate, and responsive.

Health Professional School Education
We team up with medical schools (and other health professional programs) to teach emerging practitioners how to properly care for Veterans and military families in civilian healthcare settings. In partnership with academic institutions, we tailor and integrate Veteran-centric curriculums into required coursework and training. Contact us to learn more about our curriculum offerings. Our current medical school partners can be found in the “Academic” section of the Veteran Medical Neighborhood (located under the “Connection” tab our our website)

Healthcare Professionals
To ensure Veterans can find providers in the community who are familiar with military and Veteran backgrounds, experiences, exposures, and risks, and unique needs, we work with healthcare professionals to improve their knowledge and skill sets to better support the Veteran and military families. We also help professionals build programs and services to directly meet the needs of Veterans and result in health and wellness improvements.

Community Forums / Health Expo
These forums and expos help break through misconceptions regarding the unique healthcare needs of Veterans and their families by increasing awareness and augmenting knowledge. The audience for these events include businesses, employers, nonprofit leaders, and healthcare professionals at every level.

Resource Library
The VHWF Resource Library provides curated materials designed to help healthcare professionals, Veterans, and community members access reliable information about Veteran health and wellness.
These resources include educational guides, research materials, and tools that support better understanding of military exposures, service-connected conditions, and strategies for improving Veteran care.
Veteran Lives Experience Series (VLES)
The Veteran Lived Experience Series features personal conversations with Veterans who have agreed to share their story on topics that pertain to the Veteran community, along with professional experts with experience in the field.
Help Us Educate and Empower Veteran Communities
Education is one of the most powerful tools for improving the lives of Veterans and their families. With your support, we can continue developing programs that increase awareness, improve healthcare training, and strengthen communities across the country.
